Reviews
We were in the area and wanted to have lunch before heading to the movies. We were set on having some noodles and/or dumplings. It was easy to pick from the dozens of options in Irvine. We chose 101 Noodle Express located in the Orange Tree plaza shared with 99 Ranch Market. Upon arriving, we were seated right away since the lunch rush was over. The ladies that work here are very attentive and nice. We ordered two dishes to share: spare ribs noodles and the beef roll. We normally go with the spicy beef noodle soup but decided to go with a lighter broth. So we went with the spare rib noodles with hand torn noodles. The noodles had the perfect chewy texture. The broth was creamy and flavorful. My fave was the beef roll. One of the best versions that I have tried. The tender slices of beef with cilantro and green onions wrapped inside a semi-crispy pancake. How can simple ingredients create such a delicious dish?! I can see why this is the most popular item. So glad we decided to come here for a quick bite. They have two other locations in the SGV. We totally forgot that it's cash only. Good thing, they also accept payments through Venmo.
Ah my classic comfort food. My fam's go-to order is beef rolls, lamb soup, dumplings, fried rice, and beef noodle soup. Always hits the spot, and servers are really nice and attentive!
I haven't had this place for a few years and was excited to visit again! We got the Beef Rolls and Dan Dan Noodles to go. The Beef Roll were a little more dry than I remembered, but still very good. This was my first time trying Dan Dan noodles and it was very good. Very flavorful and not too salty, which is what I'm always afraid of when eating out. Great pricing for the portions that we got. It's also cash only!
A hole in the wall in a plaza where ranch 99 is. It's not somewhere I'd go on my own since I'm not familiar with authentic Chinese food but a co worker of mine brought us here during lunch. It's not some extravagant restaurant. You can tell it's probably owned by a family. There's no air conditioning or fancy silverware but that's how you know the food is going to be amazing. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup with hand torn noodles and the beef rolls. The BEEF ROLLS are EVERYTHING. The outside is flaky and the inside is just full of flavor. The noodles were good too. Chewy and just the right texture. I like spicy food so I added even more chili sauce to mine but overall the food is amazing. The only down side is it's CASH only and the plates and cups were a little dirty but no complaints otherwise.
This place definitely should have better reviews. Food: The Yeung Chow Fried Rice was my favorite, one of the best modest fried rice I have eaten, it had everything a good one should have. The beef noodles were so full of flavor too. Service: The food came quickly and came in while still hot. You have to tip the server on Venmo though, Idk why but I found that weird. In-all: I had stopped here for a quick stop on a road trip and it made it worth the stop. This place is definitely going to be my stop on future road trips.
